Lifepath Systems CEO Randy Routon will be retiring Feb. 15 after 35 years of working in the local mental health realm.

Routon started as CEO of the Collin County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center in 1986, which started going by LifePath Systems in 1999 to reduce the stigma associated with seeking mental health care or public assistance, he said.

LifePath is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to people that are intellectually disabled or mentally ill and to children who are developmentally delayed.

LifePath’s operations are based in McKinney at 515 Heritage Drive, McKinney, but the nonprofit serves all of Collin County.

“I hope and believe that LifePath will continue to grow to fully meet the needs of a rapidly growing county,” Routon said. “That means adding different types of services as well as increasing staff, contractors [and] facilities to serve the growth in current programs.”

The search is still on for Routon’s replacement, he said, but it should be announced soon.

According to Routon, he is looking forward to retirement and plans to spend more time reading for fun and traveling with his family.
