Medical City McKinney announced that two people have been appointed to executive roles that will oversee nursing and medical staff at the hospital, according to a July 1 news release.

The overview

Dr. Bret Burton has been appointed chief medical officer. In the role, Burton will oversee quality, patient safety, risk management, infection prevention and medical staff services for Medical City McKinney.

Burton is a board-certified pediatrician who earned a medical degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts. He previously served as a physician for the U.S. Air Force. Most recently, he was chief medical officer at Medical City Fort Worth and Medical City Weatherford.

Kevin Inderhees has been appointed chief nursing officer. He will lead all nursing operations at the hospital with a focus on clinical excellence, patient experience, nurse engagement and professional development.


Inderhees has worked at Medical City Healthcare since 2010. He previously worked as a chief nursing officer at Medical City North Hills. He earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a master’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.
