Behavioral health hospital Collin Springs is now open in north McKinney.

A grand opening ceremony was held for the facility on March 13 and featured comments from Lifepoint Health officials as well as McKinney Mayor George Fuller.

The details

The single-story, 56,000-square-foot facility includes 72 beds and will serve children and adolescents ages 5 and older, as well as adults and geriatric patients, according to a news release. The facility also includes various courtyards, a cafeteria, a fitness and activity room, and separate wings for adult and adolescent patients.

The estimated cost of the facility is $17.5 million, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The hospital is also designed to be expandable structurally and architecturally to allow for an additional 24-bed wing to be added in the future, expanding the facility up to 96 beds, said Corbin Clinage, Lifepoint Health director of construction.

The hospital is operated by Tennessee-based Lifepoint Health, which also operates other inpatient and outpatient facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The facility will offer both inpatient and outpatient treatment, including partial hospitalizations, the release stated.

The healthcare center’s outpatient program is able to address a number of mental health-related concerns including:
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Psychosis
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Personality disorders
The facility will also offer care for mental health concerns related to substance abuse and addiction services, including medically-assisted detox.

“Our team of licensed and compassionate caregivers are committed to providing high-quality care to our patients in a safe environment,” said Daniel Martinez-Torres, chief executive officer of Collin Springs, in the release.

The facility also includes an electroconvulsive therapy suite, which will be available for qualifying adult patients, Martinez-Torres said at the grand opening event.

“This suite symbolizes our dedication to employing cutting edge treatments, while ensuring the highest standard of care for those who may require it,” he said.

Quote of note

“Everybody here knows somebody with a mental health issue, ... whether it's a family member, as it is with me, close family member that suffers or somebody you know,” Fuller said. “It's profound the impact that a place like this, a world-class facility, can have on their life.”
