Developers behind the Venu Sunset Amphitheater project planned in McKinney are hosting a public meeting for residents in April.

What you need to know

The meeting is open to residents and stakeholders looking for a “behind-the-scenes” look at the amphitheater's vision and progress, according to the city’s website. The event will include a Q&A session with Venu representatives, the Colorado-based company behind the project.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. April 22 and the presentation is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at Sheraton McKinney, located at 1900 Gateway Blvd., McKinney.

About the project

Officials announced the $220 million Sunset Amphitheater in March 2024. The amphitheater will be located on 46 acres near the northeast corner of US 75 and SH 121.

The amphitheater is expected to open in 2026 with a capacity of 20,000 people.

The project is being developed through a public-private partnership between four parties:
  • Venu
  • City of McKinney
  • McKinney Economic Development Corporation
  • McKinney Community Development Corporation
Development will also include 5,100 parking spaces on site. Construction is expected to occur in two phases with the first phase including the parking garages and the second phase including the amphitheater.
