City officials will meet Oct. 17 to discuss rezoning requests for both residential and commercial projects as well as the renaming of a city park.

What’s happening?

Items on the agenda include:
  • Considering rezoning requests for multiple residential development projects, including both single-family and multifamily residences
  • Considering renaming Veterans Memorial Park to RD Foster Veterans Memorial Park
  • Considering the adoption of four resolutions for the use of eminent domain for properties affected by a utility relocation project along SH 5
Former McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller is also expected to present an update on the county bond, according to the meeting agenda. A portion of the meeting will also be dedicated to citizen input.

A work session meeting will take place at 3 p.m. prior to the regular meeting.


The agenda includes a proclamation for community planning month, along with a discussion on updates to the city’s ordinances on food establishment regulations, according to the meeting agenda.

The regular meeting, slated to begin at 6 p.m., will be held in the council chambers at McKinney City Hall, 222 N. Tennessee St., McKinney.
