Developers are turning dirt throughout McKinney. The following are development highlights of different commercial and residential projects that are under construction.

1. McKinney National Business Park

Construction began in mid-March on Phase 1 of a new development called the McKinney National Business Park. The park, located on 114 acres of land south of the McKinney National Airport, will house a variety of industrial warehouses for different businesses. Phase 1 of the McKinney National Business Park includes the construction of two 75,250-square-foot industrial buildings with office spaces. 2. Medical City McKinney

A $52 million behavioral health and rehabilitation services pavilion at Medical City McKinney is expected to open in spring 2020. The expansion, which broke ground in May 2018, will include 20 inpatient rehabilitation rooms, 80 adult and geriatric behavioral health rooms, an outpatient behavioral health program and an outdoor healing garden once complete. www.medicalcitymckinney.com

3. John and Judy Gay Public Library

An expansion to the John and Judy Gay Public Library, located at 6861 W. Eldorado Parkway, broke ground April 23. The expansion will include more parking and an additional 15,217 square feet, including 3,000 square feet of outdoor program space. The expansion is part of a $9.5 million bond approved by voters in 2015. www.mckinneytexas.org/116/library

4. Kinstead McKinney Apartments

Construction on Phase 1 of the Kinstead McKinney Apartments, located at 5701 McKinney Place Drive, is wrapping up and expected to be complete in early June. Units are now available to lease. The Kinstead offers one-, two- and three-bedroom units. www.kinsteadmckinney.com

5. Medical office complex

A medical office complex is under construction at the southeast corner of Coit Road and US 380. At least 57 offices are expected to be available once complete, according to site plans submitted to the city of McKinney. A completion date is unavailable. www.dunawayassociates.com

6. Teresa's House

Construction began April 25 on Teresa’s House Craig Ranch, at 6531 Collin McKinney Parkway, just north of Children’s Health StarCenter McKinney. Teresa’s House will be an assisted-living center for adults and  seniors with no age restriction. Residents of Teresa’s House will also have access to care from licensed nurses 24/7. Once complete, the project will include three houses, each catering to 12-16 seniors. The first facility is scheduled to open in February 2020, and the other two are expected to open in April 2020. www.teresashouse.com

7. The Compass

Construction on The Compass, located in Craig Ranch, began in mid-April and is expected to be complete in March 2020. The Compass will serve as an event and meeting space for Craig Ranch residents and businesses, including those located at the Craig Ranch Corporate Center. The Compass will feature two buildings adjoined by a pavilion with covered seating. One building, with approximately 2,000 square feet, will also include a catering kitchen. www.craigranchliving.com
