Officials from Visit McKinney, the city’s convention and visitors bureau, announced the launch of the McKinney Inflatable Turkey Map in a Nov. 4 news release. The organization’s announcement also highlighted the city’s new self-proclaimed title of the Inflatable Turkey Capital of Texas.
The gist
The new map is an interactive guide that directs interested parties to displays of inflatable turkeys across the city, with many concentrated in the Historic Downtown area.
The map listings may also include the name and backstory of each inflatable turkey. The map can be accessed through the Visit McKinney app as well as at https://visitmckinney.visitwidget.com/tours/inflatable-turkey-map.
To add a turkey to the map, visit www.visitmckinney.com/inflatable-turkeys.
For individuals that take a self-guided “turkey tour” of the listed displays, photos taken with the inflatables and posted to Facebook or Instagram with Visit McKinney tagged may be featured by the organization, the release states.
The context
The title of Inflatable Turkey Capital of Texas is intended to be a playful title that highlights the community’s growing annual tradition of showcasing inflatable turkeys during the Thanksgiving holiday season, according to the release.
“Whether you’re a holiday enthusiast, a fan of quirky roadside attractions, or simply looking for a fun fall getaway, McKinney invites you to come for the charm, stay for the turkeys, and discover why it’s the most delightfully inflated destination in Texas,” the release states.
