Visit McKinney, the city’s convention and visitors bureau, contributed to coordinating two city-led events including the viewing party at Gabe Nesbitt Community Park and a ticketed event in downtown McKinney that has sold out, Visit McKinney Executive Director Aaron Werner said at an April 2 city meeting.
“This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us in North Texas,” Werner said.
The organization is offering solar eclipse viewing glasses and other solar eclipse merchandise at the Visit McKinney Experience Center, located at 200 W. Virginia St. The organization has sold over $20,000 in solar eclipse merchandise in the past two months, Werner said.
