The McKinney Chamber Foundation and other local organizations are hosting cultural and educational events throughout February to celebrate Black History Month. Here are five upcoming events.

Black History Month exhibit

This all-ages pop-up exhibit at the Roy and Helen Hall Library was curated by the Legacy Keepers of Old East McKinney. The exhibit features artifacts and historical materials that detail Black history in McKinney. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month.College Megafest

This event offers students and their parents an opportunity to interact with ambassadors from both local colleges and historically Black colleges and universities. The event will include information on college preparation as well as a financial aid workshop and an ACT/SAT discussion. Attendees can register online and email [email protected] to learn more about College Megafest scholarships.

The McKinney First Baptist Church Black history exhibit

The exhibit, curated by representatives of The McKinney First Baptist Church, features inventions and improvements made by African Americans. Additional opportunities to view the exhibit by appointment can be arranged by contacting the church.

CEO Breakfast Series featuring Cynt Marshall


The event will feature a conversation with the CEO of the Dallas Mavericks, Cynt Marshall. The CEO Breakfast Series is hosted by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, and this event is in collaboration with the Collin County Black Chamber of Commerce. The event will be moderated by Chantelle Kadala, and online registration is required.90s Hip Hop House Party

The McKinney Black History Month Committee is hosting a '90s themed party that will include a best dressed contest, casino games and music by DJ Spinderella. The event is ticketed and open to those 21 years old and older.
