Looking for events to celebrate Halloween and Dia de los Muertos this October? Check out these upcoming festivities taking place in McKinney.

Dead After Dark

The event is a Dia de los Muertos celebration featuring activities, vendors and other attractions. The event will be held at Roy and Helen Hall Library and is for attendees age 14 and older, according to the library’s website. Registration is required.Trick or Treat Trail

Attendees can trick-or-treat along a 1.2-mile trail around Towne Lake Park from 3-6 p.m., followed by a concert in the park beginning at 7 p.m. The event will also offer carnival rides, food trucks and costume contests with pet, adult, youth and group categories.Pumpkin Dunk

Jump into the pool at the Apex Centre to grab a pumpkin from the floating pumpkin patch. Attendees can decorate their pumpkins at a provided decoration station. The event offers three time blocks from noon-2 p.m. along with a dedicated hour for attendees with disabilities at 3 p.m., according to the city’s website. Registration is required.Trick or Treat March


A trick-or-treat march will be held for children age 5 and under along with their parents at the Senior Recreation Center. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and march through the facility to receive candy from Senior Recreation Center members. The event will also offer games, crafts and more. Participation is limited to the first 150 children.Haunted Trolley Tour

The Chestnut Square Trolley Tour will offer two nights of haunted trolley tours. The tours will feature both historical and haunted tales as participants ride the trolley through downtown McKinney.

Monster Dash 5k

Tupps Brewery will host the Monster Dash 5k, where participants can race around the McKinney Cotton Mill while wearing a Halloween costume. Prizes will go to the top race finishers along with costume contest winners. The event will also offer vendors, music and more.Spooktacular Brews and Boos

Participants will walk throughout downtown McKinney visiting 20 drink stops and tasting a variety of craft beers and spirits. The event will also include a costume contest with prizes, along with vendors and a photo booth.Halloween Family Concert


The McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a concert full of Halloween music as well as songs from Disney classics such as “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid.” Activities prior to the concert will include trunk-or-treating, food trucks, face painting and more.Trunk or Treat at Tupps Brewery

This family event will offer trick-or-treating out of the trunks of decorated cars. The event will also include games and food vendors, including Jeremiah’s Italian Ice. The Dallas Cowboys game will also be playing in the taproom during the event.Enchanted Halloween Family Festival

This festival will offer a variety of activities, including hayrides, face painting, scavenger hunts, pumpkin smashing, costume contests and more. The event will also offer food and live music performances.
