Thursdays July 27 through Aug. 24: Shop at a night market

The McKinney Night Market is a new event on the downtown square offering over 20 vendor booths from local artisans and crafters as well as live music. The event is a collaboration among the McKinney Main Street and Chestnut Square organizations and will be held every Thursday night July 6-Aug. 24.July 28-29, Aug. 4-5, Aug. 11-12: See a McKinney Repertory Theatre presentation

“Murder on the Orient Express” will be performed by the McKinney Repertory Theatre. The show is a comedic mystery and is rated PG-13.

July 29: Enjoy an outdoor concert

Hub 121 will host a free concert by tribute band Big Little Town. Attendees can bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the outdoor Little Big Town tribute concert. The event goers can try food and drinks from surrounding businesses, including ChopShop McKinney Sports Garage, The Elwood BFD and Wine A Little McKinney.Aug. 2: Hear an art lecture at the Heard-Craig Center


The Heard-Craig Center for the Arts will host an art lecture about artist Pablo Picasso in the Carriage House. Clair Robertson, a professor of art history at Collin College, will provide a lecture about Picasso’s artwork and impact.Aug. 5: Eat doughnuts and meet superheroes

The Donuts with Superheroes event will take place in Adriatica Village. This back-to-school event, held annually by the Love Life Foundation, will offer doughnuts and pictures with superheroes. Attendees can also bring school supplies to donate for a Backpack Drive initiative.Aug. 12: Camp out with your family

The Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary will host an overnight family camp-out event. The camp out will include team building activities, wildlife experiences and s’mores. The event is open to families with children ages 5-12, and attendees must bring their own camping supplies.Aug. 12: See guitarist Greg Howe at The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary will host guitarist Greg Howe for a concert as part of a North American tour. Howe will perform songs from his eleventh album “Lost and Found” as well as songs from his previous works. The event will also feature a performance by The Adam Nanez Band, and food and drinks will be available from Rick’s Chophouse.

Aug. 15: Try your trivia knowledge


The Recreation Center at Towne Lake will host a Tuesday Night Trivia for teams of trivia competitors. The event is BYOB for attendees age 21 and over, and it will be held on the patio of the recreation center.Aug. 19: See cars and drink coffee

The monthly Cars & Coffee event at Duino Coffee is held the third Saturday of every month. The event will feature a diverse car show, and all car types are welcome. The first 10 cars to arrive get free drip coffee.

Aug. 19: Have tea with family members

The Heard-Craig Center is hosting a Fall Children’s and Granddaughter Tea. The event includes a tea luncheon and tour of the facility. The event program will feature a presentation about artist Pablo Picasso along with an art project for attendees to create a Picasso-inspired artwork.Aug. 19: Sip summer-themed cocktails around downtown

The Sips of Summer event attendees can stop by 30 participating locations to try beers and summer-themed cocktails while walking around the downtown square. The event is part of the McKinney Sip and Stroll Series by SBG Hospitality.Aug. 20 | Worth the trip: Take your pup to a Frisco RoughRiders baseball game


Baseball fans can head to Riders Field to cheer on the Frisco RoughRiders, a Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Texas Rangers, as they play against the Tulsa Drillers. The game will feature the Bark in the Park event, and event goers are invited to bring their dogs and sit in the dog-friendly lawn seats. Visitors to Riders Field have the option of floating in the 174-foot-long Lazy River about the right field wall. The event will also feature post-game fireworks.
