Drum Corps International is coming to McKinney on July 26, bringing six of its elite drum corps during its annual Texas tour. A drumline event will occur at Tupps Brewery on July 25.

Drum Corps International has been the leader of producing events for the world’s most elite marching ensembles of student musicians and performers, according to a Visit McKinney press release.

These performances and the drumline event were originally planned for 2020 and 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the events from taking place both years.

“The city of McKinney is honored to host this Drum Corps International event,” Visit McKinney Executive Director Aaron Werner said in the release. “The DCI organization is highly respected and well-known for providing first-class entertainment, and we look forward to having these performers, their families, fans and music enthusiasts from the area and beyond visit our community.”

The drum corps visiting McKinney include the Blue Stars from La Crosse, Wisconsin.; the Carolina Crown from Fort Mill, South Carolina; the Colts from Dubuque, Iowa; Genesis from Austin, Texas; Phantom Regiment from Rockford, Illinois; and the Santa Clara Vanguard from Santa Clara, California, according to the press release. The July 26 performance will take place at 8 p.m. at McKinney ISD Stadium, located at 4201 Hardin Blvd. Tickets are on sale now through www.dci.org.
