Have a marvelous weekend in McKinney and attend one, two or all of these local events. Create and appreciate some art, toss a pizza, and be first in line to get tickets to a cooking class.


Jan. 22: Painting with a Twist

Have some family-friendly fun this weekend at Painting with a Twist. The theme for this session is “Up and Away” and paintings will feature a house floating in the sky with the help of many multicolored balloons. The event is open for ages 8 and up. Attendees are welcome to bring snacks and beverages to the event. 1-2:30 p.m. $28 (per person). 3201 Hardin Blvd., Ste. 204, McKinney. 972-542-1883.

Jan. 22: Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea

Elizabeth Wheatley is the artist of the month at Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea Craig Ranch. The theme for January is New Creation. Wheatley’s pieces will be available for purchase and 15% of the proceeds will benefit Lifetalk, a pregnancy resource center in Frisco. 4-6 p.m. 4701 Custer Road, McKinney. 972-369-7830.

Jan. 23: Tiny Art Workshop

Make a miniature masterpiece at Jump Into Art Studios at the Tiny Art Workshop. Linda Bonner will teach the workshop on how to make mightily small but beautiful works of art. Feb. 9: Personal Pizza Party

Note: The next available date for this event is Feb.9. If you are interested in this event, purchasing tickets well in advance may be necessary.

Enjoy a night at Chef Amanda’s house learning about pizza’s history, variations on the dish in Italy and making a personalized pizza pie. This is a beginner level class and all ingredients and cooking equipment will be provided at the event.
