Original post: An event to honor McKinney veterans has been canceled in the wake of COVID-19.

The McKinney Armed Services Memorial Board has canceled its annual in-person event that was scheduled for May 23 at the Veterans Memorial Park, said MFrances La Rue, the senior communications and media specialist for McKinney.

Instead of hosting the event, the board will create a video to honor the men and women from Collin County who lost their lives while serving the country, she said. A reading of those names and a short biography of each person will be performed in the video the board is producing.

The video is forthcoming and will be released at a later date.
