Brittany Black wins District 61 Democratic primary race, results show

Collin County has released updated voting totals showing Brittany Black is still in the lead to be the Democratic candidate for the District 61 race with 6,488 votes, or 55.12% of votes cast.

Black is running against challenger Jackie Bescherer, who has received 5,282 votes, or 44.88% of votes cast, according to Collin County voting results.

Black is running against challenger Jackie Bescherer, who has received 5,013 votes, or 44.98% of votes cast, according to Collin County voting results.

Brittany Black is leading the race for the Democratic bid in the Texas House, District 61 election, according to early voting results from Collin County.

Collin County has released early voting totals showing Brittany Black is in the lead to be the Democratic candidate for District 61 with 5,980 votes, or 54.74% of early votes cast.

Black is running against challenger Jackie Bescherer, who has received 4,944 early votes, or 45.26% of early votes cast.

The winner will appear again on the November ballot against the winner of the Republican primary, which features incumbent Keresa Richardson and candidate Frederick Frazier.

Cities the district represents include McKinney, Frisco and Celina.

The context

Nearly 10% Collin County's 752,502 registered voters cast a ballot in the primary election during early voting, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website.

Early voting for the 2026 primary election started Feb. 17 and ended Feb. 27 across the state, and unofficial results show 72,657 ballots were cast in-person or by mail, totaling about 9.66% of registered Collin County voters, ahead of the March 3 primary elections.
