Two candidates are on the Republican ballot for Texas House District 61 for the March 3 primary election.

Frederick Frazier is challenging incumbent Keresa Richardson to represent District 61 in the Texas House. The winner will appear again on the November ballot against the winner of the Democratic primary, which features candidates Jackie Bescherer and Brittany Black.
Cities the district represents include Plano, McKinney, Frisco and Celina.
What you need to know
Early voting for the March 3 primary runs from Feb. 17-27. Registered voters may cast ballots in either Texas’ Republican or Democratic primary, but not both. Third-party candidates will appear on the November ballot.

Why are you running for office?
I’m running for state House District 61 to put our community first — keeping families safe and expanding opportunity. With a background in law enforcement and a record of delivering public safety solutions, I will continue supporting local officers, strengthening our schools, and building a safer, stronger future for District 61.
What are the biggest challenges facing the district?
The challenges facing our district are rising property taxes and increasing pressure on small businesses, which threaten affordability and local jobs. At the same time, our community expects safe neighborhoods and laws that protect our children and most vulnerable. Addressing these priorities is essential to preserving our quality of life.
How do you plan to address these issues?
I will lead for solutions for permanent property tax relief by compressing rates and increasing exemptions and accountability. I’ll advocate for cutting red tape, low taxes and oppose job-killing mandates. I’ll continue to support law enforcement while fighting for strong policies regarding human trafficking, online bullying and protecting our children.
If you are elected, what can residents expect from you?
Residents can expect proven, community-first leadership that listens and responds to constituents’ concerns. I will continue fighting for property tax relief, supporting strong public schools, protecting our neighborhoods and children, backing law enforcement, and securing our border to preserve the quality-of-life Collin County families deserve.
