Filing period now open for 4 McKinney City Council races

Updated 7:10 p.m., Feb. 2: The races for four seats on McKinney City Council—including Districts 1 and 3, the mayor's seat and At-Large Position 1—have officially begun for the city's May 1 elections.

Filing for McKinney city elections, as of Jan. 13, is open. The last day to file for a place on the ballot is Feb. 12 by 5 p.m.


The last day to register to vote is April 1. Election day is May 1.

As of Jan. 20, the following McKinney residents have filed for election:

  • Incumbent George Fuller for mayor

  • Jimmy Stewart for mayor

  • Justin Beller for District 1

  • Trevino Cristoval for 1

  • Stanley Penn for District 1

  • Thomas Tolan for District 1

  • Gere Feltus for District 3

  • Vicente Torres for District 3

  • Incumbent Charlie Philips for At Large Position 1
