With almost all Collin County vote centers reporting, nearly 60% of McKinney residents have voted against giving the city permission to sell land located near the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary. The land will remain as it is, as the city will not be able to enter negotiations to sell the land.

Voters were asked to decide on the potential sale of park land, commonly known as the Dowell property, which is undeveloped and currently used for grazing livestock, according to the city of McKinney website.

The land contains about 55 acres of park property south of Harry McKillop Boulevard and Old Mill Road.

These results are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk. Under Texas Election law, the clerk accepts and counts mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 4, if they were sent from inside the U.S., or Nov. 9, if they were sent from outside the U.S.
