McKinney ISD has cancelled school Jan. 28 after multiple days of closures following a winter storm, according to a district Facebook post.
“The decision to cancel school was made for the safety of all our students, parents and staff after assessing road conditions throughout the district today in coordination with local emergency officials,” the post states.

An arctic cold front moved into the metroplex on Friday with cold rain transitioning into a wintry mix. Widespread wintry precipitation stopped following the weekend but ice melting may not improve until Tuesday onward.
All MISD schools and facilities were closed Jan. 26-27, according to the district's Facebook page, citing extreme forecasted weather and hazardous road conditions. The closure also applies to all school-related activities, after-school programs and extracurricular events.
What’s next
"At this time, we anticipate a return to normal school activities and schedules on Thursday, January 29," the district Facebook post states.
MISD parents will be notified through the district’s email, phone call and text message system in the event of any further school closures or delays. Information will also be posted on the district’s Facebook and at www.mckinneyisd.net.
