1. Amberton University-Frisco

Amberton is a private university with locations in Garland and Frisco. It focuses on educating working adults using distance education, with over 60% of programs completed entirely online.

2. Collin College

Beginning in the fall 2025 semester, Collin College students gained access to online education from schools across the state through a partnership with the Texas Statewide Course Sharing Exchange Program. The program allows students to sign up for online courses from schools statewide while also enrolled in Collin College courses, with the goal to increase availability of courses while also supporting students completing their education, a college news release states.

3. Dallas College

A new partnership between Dallas College and Texas State University will allow students to earn a bachelor’s degree in management, finance, marketing or information systems from Dallas College’s Richland Campus. Applications for eligible students opened this fall.

4. Midwestern State University


The university added a new major, electrical engineering, to its degree plan options starting in the fall 2025 semester, according to a news release. The new program is housed in the school’s McCoy School of Engineering and includes seven new courses and eight cross-listed with the mechanical engineering field of study. School officials earmarked $690,000 in state funding to launch the new degree plan.5. North Central Texas College

The school completed a transition from its current bookstore provider BibliU to Barnes & Noble as of Oct. 3. Students will now obtain course material from Barnes & Noble.

6. Tarrant County College

Tarrant County College students with at least a 2.25 GPA will be guaranteed admission to Texas State's San Marcos and Round Rock locations. Students can save up to $10,000 each year by starting out at TCC, then transferring to Texas State, according to a news release.

7. Texas Christian University

Six new residence halls are under construction. In 2027, the university plans to open a 550-bed hall in Worth Hills and, on the east side of campus, three first-year halls totaling 1,350 beds, a 450-bed hall for sophomores, and a 120-bed townhome and apartment community for upperclassmen.

8. Texas Wesleyan University


Texas Wesleyan saw a 10% increase in enrollment for the fall 2025 semester. It also reported its largest first year class in university history.

9. Texas Woman’s University

Texas Woman’s University staff and officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 4 for the university’s newly renovated Welcome Center at Brackenridge Hall. The 82,000-square-foot facility will house various student services while also serving as an introduction to the university for new and prospective students.

10. The King’s University

All King’s undergraduate degrees transitioned to a 120-credit structure, effective the 2025-26 school year, to align with the Texas state standard.

11. University of North Texas

UNT has more than 46,000 students enrolled and focuses on career readiness. It offers 114 bachelor’s degrees, and 126 master’s degrees. UNT at Frisco is a location of the University of North Texas focused on providing degree programs that get undergraduate students prepared for in-demand jobs and graduate students in a position to advance their careers. UNT President Harrison Keller announced the Texas Talent Accelerator on Sept. 4. The program, in partnership with several other local higher education institutions, will work with local employers to sync education and training with market demands.12. The university was awarded an ExLENT Program grant from the National Science Foundation to create cohorts of students, veterans, researchers and industry engineers aimed at strengthening the aerospace engineering community. UTA also broke ground on a new west campus in Fort Worth, which is set to open in 2028.

13. University of Texas at Dallas

The University of Texas at Dallas is now offering a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering, according to a news release from the university. The new degree program launch is intended to help meet industry demands and prepare students for a variety of fields that require interdisciplinary engineering experience, the release states.
