McKinney ISD is continuing work on two of its campuses, Evans Middle School and McKinney Boyd High School, as part of the district’s 2021 bond program.

The district's board of trustees approved the two refresh phases Feb. 24.

Looking back

The district's 2021 bond program included $31 million in funds for the refresh of McKinney Boyd, which was built in 2006. The bond program also set aside $21 million to refresh Evans Middle, which opened in 2004. The first phase of the campus refresh was $7.5 million leaving about $13.5 million for the second project phase, the agenda stated.

Project details

Mckinney Boyd’s $1.01 million refresh phase approved by the board includes the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, painting, plumbing and miscellaneous replacement items. To date, the project has cost $26.67 million with the inclusion of a 10% contingency.

Evans Middle has previously undergone ceiling replacements, fire alarm upgrades, parking lot restriping and HVAC refreshes. The school’s next phase of refresh is $1.125 million and includes painting, plumbing, and general construction such as patching drywall and ceiling tiles, according to the agenda.

Work will begin at both campuses on the last day of school in May, the agenda stated.
