The McKinney Education Foundation is calling for donations to support graduating seniors.

The MEF supports McKinney ISD through student scholarships and educational grants. It also provides college advisors at each of MISD’s high schools to assist students with guidance and resources for higher education.

Over 800 MISD seniors have applied for scholarships this year, and the foundation has received about half of the funds needed to support them, according to an MEF news release. The scholarship support deadline is March 15.

“The biggest crime is that we leave students behind when we don’t fund all of these scholarships,” said Sheila Due, CEO of the McKinney Education Foundation, in the release. “There is no wiser investment than contributing to the education of a student as our students are the architects of our future.”

Looking back

The MEF provided 363 students in the 2023 graduating class with scholarships totaling $637,500. The average scholarship awarded was $1,756, the release stated.
