McKinney High School’s multipurpose building, more commonly known as Poe Dome, will receive upgraded locker rooms this summer after approval from the McKinney ISD school board at a Feb. 22 meeting.

Poe Dome was built in 1996. The lockers in the building were replaced last summer. After the facilities department upgraded the lockers, staff noticed the ceilings and fixtures were outdated, Chief Operations Officer Greg Suttle said.

“Just about every other thing has been touched at McKinney High except for those four locker rooms on the west side,” Suttle said, adding after the renovations, the school will be on par with the multipurpose buildings at McKinney Boyd and McKinney North high schools.

The refresh will include new finishes on the showers and restrooms. New paint, cabinets, LED lighting, plumbing fixtures and ceiling grids will also be added. One Source Building Services will complete the project for just over $378,000, according to meeting documents.
