What we reported: In June the McKinney ISD board of trustees approved hiring three additional crisis counselors and two school resource officers, or SROs. MISD also updated and added new security cameras, which now total 1,500 districtwide. The latest: Monthly public safety meetings are held among MISD, the McKinney police and fire departments, and other city departments, said Cody Cunningham, MISD’s chief communications and support services officer. In 2018 the district finalized a plan to use the MISD stadium as a meeting point for parents should a school have to evacuate, Cunningham said. In the next year the district hopes to implement natural disaster drills.
