What we reported: The McKinney ISD stadium opened in August. The opening came seven months after district officials, Manhattan Construction and architect Stantec found concrete cracking throughout the stadium. The cracks did not pose a life-safety concern, meaning the stadium could still be used. The district played its home football games there and hosted an NCAA football championship game in December.
The latest: Concrete repairs are expected to take place on the visitor side of the stadium in early 2019 with repairs to the home side beginning in April, MISD Superintendent Rick McDaniel said. Repairs will be complete by the end of June. The stadium will be used for sporting events, band competitions, club lacrosse and likely professional concerts.
