Collin College will offer Google’s IT Support Professional Certificate in late October as supplemental material to the colleges Occupational Skills Award Program for entry-level network support technicians, said Ann Beheler, executive director of the college’s emerging technology grants. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate for the Google courses.

Google's IT Support Professional Certificate is a program that teaches individuals how to become IT support professionals in approximately eight months. Beheler said this certificate program is a pilot program.

Beheler, who is also the principal investigator for the National Convergence Technology Center at Collin College, said Google contacted the college due to its National Convergence Technology Center located at the Preston Ridge campus in Plano. The center began as a regional center in 2004 and became a national center in 2012.

Final details are still being discussed, Beheler said, including where the IT Support program will be offered.
