Velvet Taco will soon begin serving globally inspired tacos at a new location in west McKinney. The restaurant, located in the West Grove development, is set to open 11 a.m. April 14, according to a company news release.

The first 50 dine-in guests at the restaurant will receive free hats, and additional special offers will be available during the opening week.

Velvet Taco’s fusion menu includes more than 20 tacos and bowls with proteins like spicy tikka chicken, beer-battered cauliflower, bacon smash burger and more, according to its website. The restaurant’s dishes feature items like brisket roasted for 18 hours, a 48-hour marinated Backdoor Chicken, candied pepitas, Thai basil and more, the release states

The restaurant also offers alcoholic beverages, including margaritas and beer, as well as slices of red velvet cake.


What else?

The McKinney location spans nearly 3,000-square-feet and can accommodate 64 guests inside along with 48 seats on the patio, the release states. The restaurant also features a mural by McKinney North High School freshman student Paxton Grigsby. The mural features the mascots of McKinney’s three high schools.

There are more than 40 Velvet Taco locations in the U.S., including over 10 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to the restaurant’s website.
