Duino Coffeehouse + Kitchen is named after a small coastal town in Italy that is home to multiple ethnicities and cultures. According to its website, this inspired what the coffee shop should represent: community, diversity and culture. Customers can find comforting classics, such as a caramel macchiato, or try something more adventurous, including an Amazon chili mocha or a lavender fog. Duino’s also offers homemade food items such as a chicken pesto panini and the Lady Marmalade toast, which is topped with ricotta cheese, orange marmalade and black pepper.

Filter(ed) Craft Coffee & Culture House is the spot for classic coffees and community. In addition to loose-leaf teas, Italian sodas and various bites, Filter(ed) also showcases local artists’ works at the Art Gallery at Filter(ed). According to its website, the AGF mission is “spreading beauty, artistic appreciation and cultural commonality through day to day interaction.”

Honi’s Coffee House


Honi’s Coffee House, located inside Brookhaven church, offers coffee grown in Montaña Eracupa, Copan Honduras. The shop is a nonprofit organization that works directly with La Finca De Los Niños, an orphanage in Honduras, and according to Honi’s website, their coffee sales are used to help positively change the lives of these children as well as the local McKinney community. In addition, Honi’s sells merchandise on its website, including Honi’s hats, Honduran specialty coffee, Honi’s K-cups, Art of Tea variety boxes and Honi’s T-shirts.

PJ’s Coffee

PJ’s Coffee takes pride in choosing Direct Trade coffee, which is roasted in small batches in New Orleans. The minority-owned and -operated coffee shop offers a selection of food options, including breakfast sandwiches, one of which is vegetarian. PJ’s drinks range from hot to cold to frosty, including their Mocha Granita, a frozen coffee with a crystalline texture. For customers who prefer to stay in the car, PJ’s also has a drive-thru.

Wattage Coffee Company

For European-style coffee and pastries with a side of bicycles in downtown McKinney, visit Wattage Coffee Company. Owner Chad Plumlee opened Cadence Cyclery in 2011 and opened Wattage Coffee Company in 2018. Located inside Cadence Cyclery, customers can find drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, a variety of teas and hot cocoa. Online, Wattage sells T-shirts in gray and mint green sporting the Wattage logo. Soon, customers will also be able to order bags of Avoca coffee that can be delivered right to their door.
