Construction is underway at the Recreation Center at Towne Lake that will expand the facility and upgrade various spaces.

The $5.5 million renovation project is set to be completed in early 2025, Parks and Recreation Director Amy Kinkade said in an email.

The details

The facility is undergoing a complete renovation to various areas, including:
  • Fitness area
  • Classroom
  • Conference room
  • Restrooms
The project also includes updates to the reception desk, windows and fire sprinkler systems, as well as an expansion of the parking lot and other cosmetic updates, Kinkade said. The project will also add 1,400 square feet of space, expanding the facility to a total of 21,933 square feet. The additional space will be used as a classroom, conference space and a storage room.

The project began in October 2023 and is currently underway, with some work that was recently completed including repairing roof leaks, installing underground utilities and excavating the parking lot. New wiring and structural reinforcement to existing walls is also being installed.

The construction work is being led by PassBuilt Construction, city documents state.

Quote of note

“With upgrades to the facility, the center will provide an enhanced experience with all new features including restrooms with showers, family restroom, wellness room, larger classroom space and double the fitness area,” Kinkade said in an email.
