A new multifamily housing development is expected to open in west McKinney in 2025.

The Jefferson Trails development, located at 8411 Stacy Road, is a product of JPI, an Irving-based residential development company. The roughly $113 million project will include 335 units, according to JPI representative Kole Fuller. The project will include:
  • 240 multifamily dwelling units;
  • One-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans;
  • Five multifamily buildings ranging from three to four stories; and
  • 95 separate townhomes.
The Class A residential development will be placed on nearly 25 acres, which is currently occupied by a former Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas facility. The Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center and Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic closed in April 2021 and was rezoned ahead of the planned redevelopment a year later. The project, which began construction in January, includes demolishing the former SPCA facility, Fuller said.

The community will likely be managed by ZRS Management and plans to include a resort-style pool, clubhouse, a pickleball court and a dog park, Fuller said. The rent will range between $1,725-$3,500, and the project is expected to be completed in April 2025, Fuller said.
