New developments with adjacent parking garages and lots, including 205 Louisiana, Davis at the Square, Chestnut Commons and Playful Corp.’s building will help expand downtown’s footprint and allow for more parking. Once the developments are complete, nearly 800 public parking spaces will be added.

In September council asked city staff to re-evaluate the Chestnut Commons parking garage to determine if building the structure with 310 spaces, leaving Herndon Street open, or closing Herndon to build a structure with 400 spaces was more efficient. Council voted Dec. 19 to construct the garage and leave Herndon open.
What’s next
Davis at the Square officials expect to open its public parking garage in early 2018. Playful Corp. and 205 Louisiana plan to be complete in the summer, and Chestnut Commons plans to be complete in December.
