Former McKinney City Council member Don Day has formed a partnership with other investors to develop a new office and retail building in downtown McKinney, with construction expected to start this summer, Day said in a news release.
The proposed 28,700-square-foot building, to be constructed on the southwest corner of Louisiana and Church streets, will include two floors of office and retail space.
The building will also include an underground parking garage and five extended-stay hotel rooms to be leased and managed by The Grand Hotel.
Day's company, DFA LTD, is the general partner for the project. Limited partners include Roger Harris, president of Metro Linens; and principals of Higginbotham Insurance, which is expected to move its McKinney office into the building. Other investors include Attorney Michael Puhl, Paul Renfro of AMP Equis LLC and Project Manager Nye Gorelangton.
The development has not yet been approved by the McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission, but developers are in the process of applying for a building permit, according to Day.
DFA LTD hopes to break ground this August and complete the project by August 2018, Day said.
