The McKinney Economic Development Corp. hired a new senior vice president. Danny Chavez began in his new role May 28.

Chavez previously worked for the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation as vice president of business development where he focused on downtown development, the technology industry and corporate relocations and expansions.

The Angelo State University graduate said he hopes to drive opportunity and economic development to McKinney.

“One of my kind of high-level goals for the [MEDC] is to make sure that we are competing amongst [the] Dallas-Fort Worth metro ... as well as making McKinney a destination for Fortune 500 headquarters," he said. "The technology ecosystem will take time to build, [but] there are great corporate partners already in our backyard, like Raytheon and Playful [Corp.], that we can expand upon."

Chavez is also the founder and CEO of Iconomi, a management and consulting firm, and co-founder and chief strategist of Epux, a technology company offering user experience software development.
