The city of McKinney announced that Dana Riley, former executive director of nonprofit Volunteer McKinney, was hired to the newly created city position of Neighborhood Services Coordinator, starting Nov. 26.

According to the city’s announcement, Riley will work with neighborhood organizations and act as the direct line of communication between residents and the community.

“I think that [the city] wants to stay connected to its citizens and this position truly does that, so the citizens have a go-to person that they can call when they have a problem or an issue,” Riley said.

Riley said her job duties will include public speaking and presentations, attending meeting, and helping the community collaborate with the city by gaining community feedback.

“I [hope to accomplish] more of what I have done in my previous position, and that is just to bring communities together and solve problems,” she said. “I’m super excited, and I have so much respect for the city of McKinney and their leadership, and I just can’t wait to get started.”
