Christmas tree recycling pickup offered to McKinney residents

The city of McKinney will offer Christmas tree recycling Jan. 2-12. Waste Connections will pick up trees at homes and apartments.

For trees to be recycled, the city asks that residents remove all lights and ornaments from the tree. Trees with flocking will not be picked up. Those living in homes should place the tree next to your trash bin on your regularly scheduled trash day. Those living in apartments should place the tree outside the trash container within the complex, according to the city’s website.

If residents wish to drop off Christmas trees for recycling they can do so at the Al Ruschhaupt Soccer fields, 2701 N. Brook Drive, and the water tower at Gabe Nesbitt Community Park, 7001 Eldorado Parkway.

Natural decorations, such as natural poinsettias, pine garland and wreaths, can also be placed in brown compost bags next to trash bins on regularly scheduled trash days for pickup.

For questions about Christmas tree recycling, residents are advised to call Waste Connections at 469-452-8000 or visit the city’s website.
