The city of McKinney hopes to streamline its development process with the launch of a new land management software system called EnerGov.

The new system, which launches Oct. 16, is expected to streamline the process for developers, improve data quality and increase public access to information provided by the Development Services Division, according to a news release from the city.

EnerGov also offers a citizen self-service portal that will allow the community and developers to apply for permits, request inspections, create new development cases and view real-time data on their respective projects. This portal can be accessed on a smartphone, tablet or computer.

Code enforcement officers, inspectors and other land-use officials will also be able to update and access data in the field to provide timely and relevant data.

Business operations and staffing will be limited in the Development Services Division on Oct. 12-13 as employees transition to EnerGov.

According to the release, the following services will be unavailable Oct. 12-16:

  • applying for new cases and permits

  • certificate of occupancy issuance

  • issuance of permits

  • payment of fees

  • responding to open records requests

  • scheduling new inspections

  • other similar functions
