Former McKinney City Council member Ray Ricchi announced today that he will run for Collin County judge in 2018.

The announcement comes the same week Collin County Judge Keith Self announced that he will not seek re-election to the position.

Candidates running for county office cannot file until Nov. 11, according to the Texas Secretary of State website.

The Primary Election will be held on March 6, 2018, with early voting running from Feb. 20- March 2. The first day to apply for a ballot by mail is Jan. 1 and the last day to register to vote is Feb. 5.

According to a press release, Ricchi served as McKinney City Council member for District 4 from 2008-15, as well as chairman of the McKinney Economic Development Corp. and McKinney Chamber of Commerce.
