The city of McKinney has been without public transit since November 2015, but City Council approved two items Jan. 17 that inched the city closer to reinstating public transit.
The first item allows city staffers to pursue grant funding from the Texas Department of Public Transportation. The second item allows staffers to request direct-recipient status from the Federal Transit Authority. The status would allow the city to receive FTA funds directly.
The city has yet to announce the type of service it seeks to provide.
