During the Nov. 14 Commissioners Court meeting, commissioners discussed the possibility of holding a bond election in 2018 to help fund multiple roadway construction projects.
County Judge Keith Self said the last bond election held by the county was in 2007, and the last bond was sold this year.
Self said he wanted the court to think about how the county would contribute to a required 10 percent match of local funds to state funds once state transportation funds are released through propositions 1 and 7, which are aimed at funding road projects.
Commissioner Duncan Webb said the county could see state funding within the next two years.
Self asked the county’s budget department to determine how much the county could bond, adding that the county needs to be as ready as it can be to secure state funding.
