George Fuller, who announced earlier this month he is running for McKinney mayor in the May 2017 election, said he is doing so to bring a new perspective to council.

"I've lived here and worked here for 30 years," Fuller said. "I know what it's going to take to get things done. I know what opposition in the city. I know what it's like to work with the city from a builder and developer side."
Fuller was part of the team that developed Adriatica and ran against current Mayor Brian Loughmiller in 2007.
"I decided to run at the very last minute," he said. "I did not have any political experience or any political base around me and Brian had announced a year earlier that he would be running. My goal in running at that time was to bring light to some serious issues. I ran seriously and I ran to win, but I knew it would be an uphill battle."
Fuller is the president of the Commercial Development Corporation in Stonebridge Ranch, a McKinney Chamber of Commerce board member and a former member of the McKinney Community Development Corp.
Council Member Randy Pogue has also announced his intention to run for mayor.
