The city of McKinney will hold two public hearings Feb. 16 during the regular City Council meeting at 6 p.m. in McKinney City Council Chambers. Public transportation and parking in downtown McKinney will be discussed.

Residents will have a chance to speak regarding public parking options during the public comment portion of the public hearing. The discussion will  include consideration of an additional underground parking level within the mixed-use development proposed on the city’s 9-acre property—formerly  the site of the Collin County Courthouse—located at the southwest corner of Davis St. and SH 5.

Council will also hear an update from Goodman Corporation, hired by the city to assist in obtaining Direct Recipient status from the Federal Transit Administration as well as producing an existing conditions report regarding public transit in McKinney following the city's decision to cancel its contract with TAPS.

“The council feels it is very important to provide an open opportunity for the public to address them as they move forward in making decisions on these multifaceted topics,” said Tom Muehlenbeck, interim City Manager in a news release. “We look forward to hearing from the public on these important items.”
