Another Round Dallas, a disc golf shop and taproom, will open a location in McKinney in early 2025, franchise owners Russell Mills and Andrew Jauregui said.

The gist

The store will offer an array of disc golf products, including discs and bags. The 1,700-square-foot shop will also feature a bar area serving beer and wine, as well as non-alcoholic drinks and limited food options.

The shop will show live disc golf on televisions, and offer a place for those interested in disc golf to gather and interact. The shop will be family friendly as well as dog friendly, Mills said.

The business is a franchise, and the company’s first store located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The McKinney location will be the business’s ninth store nationwide.

Diving in deeper

Mills said the company’s expansion to the area aims to create a place for the disc golf community to gather off of the course. The McKinney store is strategically located near two popular disc golf courses, including the Alex Clark Memorial Disc Golf Course and the Towne Lake Disc Golf Course, he said.

“We just saw that the [disc golf] community here was already tight-knit and pretty large and did a lot of things together, but they didn't really have a place besides the course to gather there,” Jauregui said.

Mills said while living in Colorado, he frequented the company’s Denver location, and was later able to connect with his business partner, Jauregui, and the duo shared an interest in opening a franchise of the business.

“Nothing like this exists here,” Mills said of the business.

Quote of note

Jauregui said they plan to get involved in the McKinney community through participating in events locally.

“We plan on fully throwing ourselves into being McKinney ... I know our name says Dallas, but we very much like McKinney,” Jauregui said.
