Plans are underway to open a new shopping center at the corner of Hardin Boulevard and Wilmeth Road, a leasing official confirmed in an email.

The Shops at Wilmeth is expected to total 19,195 square feet of retail space, according to a project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Brian Sladek, a principal for commercial broker Resolut RE, said construction on the new retail building could finish by the end of June 2025.

Texas-based Hunington Properties is developing the shopping center. Resolut RE has already confirmed leases with Desi Big Bazaar, Pro Black Belt Academy and Beans and Brews, Sladek said. Those businesses will likely open during the third or fourth quarter of 2025, he said.

The shopping center will be located within the 1,100-acre Painted Tree development, which hosted a grand opening in September 2023. Painted Tree is expected to offer 3,400 total residences across single-family homes and multifamily units when finished.
