Medical City ER Stonebridge, a standalone emergency room in northwest McKinney, reopened July 10 after a three-year closure, according to a news release.

The medical center, located at 8995 W. University Drive near Custer Road, provides full-service emergency care for all ages. Medical City ER Stonebridge staff includes board-certified emergency physicians and nurses that offer hospital-grade care, according to the release.

The facility temporarily closed in March 2020 to redirect staff and resources in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the release.

“We are thrilled to expand access to high-quality, safe emergency care closer to home for many Collin County residents – backed by all of the resources and clinical expertise of Medical City McKinney,” Medical City McKinney CEO Ernest Lynch said in the release.

The facility includes 12 private patient rooms, including two pediatric rooms, as well as a medical laboratory, a trauma code room and an imaging suite, according to the release.

The facility is an extension of Medical City McKinney, a 285-bed hospital in south McKinney. At a reopening event, Medical City McKinney officials announced a $5,000 donation to the Collin College Department of Emergency Medical Services.
