“There is a lot of cancer in my family,” Georges said. “About 15 years ago, I decided I needed to take control of what I was putting on my skin.”That was the birth of the Natural Jewels product line, Georges said.
“After I had my first daughter—she’s 21 now—I had horrible breakouts. My skin went rampant with hormonal changes, and I didn’t see enough experienced people to help correct my issues,” she said. “I started to do research and said, ‘I’m going to school to learn as much as I can so I can help other women, men, children, whomever, feel better about their skin.’”
A New York native, Georges at first kept her 9-to-5 job and did skin care in her free time.
However, about five years ago, she said a close friend passed away, and she relocated to Texas to be closer to her remaining friends.
In fall 2017, she opened a space in the Willow Bend Market in Plano before moving to her spot at 1402 S. Custer Road in McKinney in October 2021. No matter the location, Georges said her motivation for what she does has remained constant: making her clients feel better about themselves.
“It’s transitioned over the years. That was the first thing that was rewarding: the ability to help people with their skin,” Georges said. “Now, it’s really grown. A lot of people come here, especially post-pandemic, for a place where they can decompress, relax or forget whatever’s going on for an hour or two.”
The new McKinney location provides her business more space to treat more people, she said. “Before, it was treating people’s skin in a one-room suite. It was still inviting but on a smaller scale. Now, people come in, and when they walk in the doors their worries are lifted,” she said.
