When a professional magician from Van Alstyne wanted to take his show back on the road, Chris and Jennifer Gracy said they jumped on the chance to purchase his magic shop. Today, Main Street Magic Company is located in the historic downtown square and offers live magic shows as well as training for aspiring magicians.

“Our biggest draw is that a brick-and-mortar magic shop is a rare find,” Jennifer said. “There are only a handful in the entire state of Texas, and we work very hard to give people a magical experience when they come in.”

The shop intends to cater to every type of magician.

“We sell magic to all levels of magicians, from a 5-year-old buying their first trick to professional magicians like Michael Carbonera,” Jennifer said. “Magic is a great way for a salesperson to make an impression or a waiter to make a dinner special for a family or even a doctor to have a way to connect on a personal level with his patients.”

But, she said, one cannot have the trick without the training.

“In addition to selling magic tricks, we hold magic classes,” Jennifer said. “Our classes are magic in themselves in that they are actually life-skills classes camouflaged as magic classes. The kids have a great time learning lots of cool magic tricks, but they are also learning communication and life skills that are becoming more valuable in this age of kids who are addicted to their screens.”

The shop offers magic shows for the public on the second Saturday of every month—one show is a family show, and the other is a date-night show—featuring different performers every month. And Jennifer emphasizes customers will not be disappointed with their trip to their shop.

“Online shopping creates a challenge, but the internet cannot provide the experiences we can or the ability to have a magician demonstrate a trick or teach the customer how to do the trick,” she said.
