The past six months have been a busy time for Craig Ranch officials, as the development boasted the sale of  more than 58 acres which will contribute more than $132 million in future ad valorem taxes.

“It is the tried and true strategy we said all along was going to work,” said David Craig, founder and master developer of Craig Ranch, in a news release. “We needed rooftops to make the corporate center, town center and retail in our core vibrant. We’ll have 20,000 residents in Craig Ranch in the next five years and that is attractive to retailers, multifamily developers and companies wanting to relocate.”

The community has seen several new developments added to the area, including the Sewell Audi Dealership at SH 121 and Stacy Road, Moviehouse & Eatery in the northeast corner of Craig Ranch Parkway/Exchange and SH 121, and a Holiday Inn Express along SH 121.

A retail shopping center at the northeast corner of Custer and Stacy roads named the Marketplace at Craig Ranch is also underway, as is the second phase of the Parkside luxury apartments and Southern Hills office suites at Custer Road and Collin-McKinney Parkway.

“We’re seeing McKinney evolve and it’s exciting,” said Craig. “Our vision 15 years ago was to create density and increase commercial valuation which brings job growth, employees and more ad valorem taxes.”

McKinney Corporate Center Craig Ranch  is a public-private partnership with the city of McKinney that saw the relocation of the  London-based Barclays Bank  to the McKinney Corporate Center in 2014.
