The CJ Cup Byron Nelson golf tournament will remain at TPC Craig Ranch for another five years after stakeholders reached a new deal, according to a news release.

Invited Clubs, which owns TPC Craig Ranch, and the city of McKinney announced the extension in June which will see the PGA Tour event returning each year through 2030. The announcement comes as a $22 million reinvestment project gets underway at TPC Craig Ranch.

The details

Renovations are being led by World Golf Hall of Famer Lanny Wadkins and will be the golf course’s first since it opened in 2004, according to the news release. The project will completely overhaul the existing course with turf enhancements, a complete redesign and repositioning of bunkers, and more.

The project is already underway, and the golf course is expected to reopen in November, according to TPC Craig Ranch’s website. TPC Craig Ranch’s clubhouse and practice facility will remain open during the renovations.

Quote of note

Jon Drago, the 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament director said in a statement that they were “thrilled about the incredible investments” being made at TPC Craig Ranch.

“The thoughtful redesign and enhancements envisioned by the Invited team will undoubtedly elevate the course even further,” Drago said. “The city of McKinney and Invited continue to be outstanding partners, and we’re looking forward to what’s ahead. We can’t wait to showcase the reimagined course to players, fans, and the world next May.”

In a statement, McKinney Mayor George Fuller said extension of the tournament was “tremendous news” for McKinney. The tournament has delivered economic benefits to McKinney while offering a chance to showcase the city to a global audience, he said.

“I’m especially grateful to [Craig International CEO] David Craig, whose vision decades ago—and relentless dedication ever since—made this possible,” he said. “I also want to thank Invited for their continued partnership and the Salesmanship Club [of Dallas] for their unwavering commitment to supporting families in need.”
