Artist highlights Cuba in latest showing
An opening reception will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Friday at The Cove, 402 N. Tennessee St., McKinney, for the "Francisca's Daughter presents: Paintings by Mercy Landauer" exhibit. Born in Havana, Cuba, Manning uses a colorful palette, including the blues of the Caribbean and the reds and yellows in the sunrises. Her paintings are abstracts done in acrylics and aim to utilize the senses and capture the sight and touch of Cuba. For more info, click

Chestnut Square is hosting a ghostwalk on Saturday night
Chestnut Square’s Ghostwalk Tickets include maps and storytellers at each site who share legends and paranormal history. Tickets are for both nights. 6-10 p.m. Free (children ages 3 and younger), $5 (children ages 4-12), $15 (adults before Oct. 21), $20 (adult, night of). Chestnut Square Historic Village, 315 S. Downtown transforms to Halloween headquarters on Monday night
Pumpkins, ghosts and candy, oh my! The shops in downtown McKinney and McKinney Main Street invite residents to Scare on the Square from 4-7 p.m. Monday to enjoy the sights of hundreds of ghosts and goblins young and old in Historic Downtown McKinney. This annual event provides interactive activities to celebrate a safe, secure, family-fun Halloween event.
The costume contest will be located in the Courtroom Theater at MPAC. Registration will begin at 5 p.m. and the costume contest will kick off at 5:30 p.m. starting with the youngest age group. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each category. The winner of each group will go on to compete in the Grand Prize Contest where cash prizes will be awarded. First place will win $250, second place will win $150 and third place will win $100. For more info click
