The McKinney Performing Arts Center and the Arts and Music Guild are now accepting artwork submissions for its annual juried art show in April.
Submissions will be juried by a four-person panel, and prize winners will be selected by Pam and Bill Campbell of William Campbell Contemporary Art in Fort Worth.
The deadline for the purchase piece, large scale work, 36 inches or more in one dimension, is at 7 p.m., March 25.
Artists interested in submitting work to be considered for purchase must submit an
online form. Those wishing to submit work for cash prize consideration may deliver pieces in person on April 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Artists featured in the juried art show will be recognized at a public reception at 7 p.m. on April 8. Winners will also be announced and will receive cash prizes totaling $8,500.
The winning large scale artwork piece will be awarded a $6,000 purchase prize and become part of MPAC's permanent and public art collection along with other existing permanent art collection pieces from past juried art show winners and pieces donated by Don Day.
An additional $2,500 will be divided among five works of art chosen by the judge including one Young Artist Award chosen from among the juried artwork submitted by high school students.
The artwork will be on exhibit at MPAC for public viewing April 8-23. The juried art show is funded in part by the McKinney Arts Commission with support from Orisons Art & Framing.
